Prince Edward County ( The County as known by locals ) has become a vacation Mecca with Sandbanks Provincial Park as the centrepiece and a multitude of things to do and places to visit, there is always something happening in The County.
Prince Edward County in recent years has become a top culinary destination. With emerging artists and wineries around every corner, there is never enough time to take in all the region has to offer.
With an increasing number of cultural activities, The County has created a niche in the new Creative Economy. “It’s yet another point of pride for Prince Edward County, which has become the gastronomic capital of Ontario — a fertile island bursting with vineyards, organic farms and a community of artists and chefs. Tucked into the “golden triangle” between Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa, it is the province’s newest Designated Viticultural Area.”
You cannot visit The County without a visit so some of its great bars and traditional pubs. The Acoustic Grill in Picton offers great locally brewed beers, ales and wines with an American style menu featuring “The Acoustic Jam” burger, one of the best you will ever taste ( in our opinion ), hot wings and the tastiest Poutine we have ever tried ( see full menu ). There is also live music Fri-Sun nights (occasionally midweek) featuring some amazing Canadian talent inc some Juno award winning musicians. Please visit their website for more information, It’s also a good idea to make a reservation, especially in the summer as this places gets booked up most nights.
The newly opened Drake Devonshire Hotel in Wellington boasts a bar with a deck right on Lake Ontario. You can sit and have a glass of wine or a beer watching the sun setting or try some fine dining from their restaurant.
The Beck and Call Restaurant on Main Street Picton features a small bar area in the back which serves food and drink and hosts live music.
The Waring House is located opposite Home Hardware on the “round-a-bout” coming into Picton. It boasts a restaurant and a large bar which serves bar food and is a regular at hosting live music.
The County Canteen is a new pub on Main Street Picton serving a wide range of craft beers and some onsite brews.

County Marathon (Oct 2) This Boston Marathon Qualifier goes through the County. Crowds cheer the runners along the picturesque route from the village of Wellington along winding country roads, through three towns and past three lakes to the historic Crystal Palace in the town of Picton.
Pumpkinfest (Oct 15) Watch the Parade of Giant Pumpkins wind its way through the village of Wellington to the Pumpkin Grower’s weigh-off. Enjoy local entertainment, vendors, local food booths, restaurants, stores, games for children, pumpkin sales and pumpkin pie.
Countylicious (Nov) Prince Edward County’s twice annual culinary celebration. The County’s top restaurants will offer three-course culinary creations for $30 or $35.

Wassail (Nov 19 & 20, Nov 26 & 27, Dec 3 & 4) In thanks for a bountiful harvest and the “hilling up” of vines, revelers, shoppers and tasters make merriment. “Wassailers” pour out libations to the vines, serenade the trees and create revelry to evoke a good harvest for the next year.
Bloomfield Festival of Lights (Nov 25) The village of Bloomfield sparkles like a magical fairyland for their annual night-time holiday parade.
Festival of Trees (Nov ) Silent auction of over 150 beautifully decorated Christmas trees, as well as a huge bake sale, bucket draw, Christmas boutique, with live musical entertainment.

X-COUNTRY SKIING Sandbanks Provincial Park has 11 kms of trails.
ICE FISHING The Bay of Quinte is one of the top walleye fishing spots in the world. Several local businesses offer ice-fishing packages and accommodation packages.
HOCKEY The County loves its hockey! The Wellington Dukes are a Junior “A” ice hockey team from Wellington. The Picton Pirates are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Picton.
The Centrepiece of Picton Main Street is The Regent Theatre which hosts a variety of movies, plays, musicals, concerts, satellite broadcasts and art movie screenings throughout the year.
A drive-in movie theatre, The Mustang, is located north-west of Picton on Route 1.
Caddyshack Mini Golf – Situated next to Sandbanks main entrance. A great day out for the family.
County Cider – Stunning views overlooking Waupoos. A must is a pint of County Cider and one of their delicious oven baked pizzas.
